Top 5 must do activities in Port Douglas

🌴🌴🌴Where are your favourite places to go in Port Douglas? 🌴🌴🌴

Here are our 5 must do activities when travelling to this tropical North Queensland destination.

1. Mossman Gorge. 💦🌳
This is a definite must do activity especially with Kids. The bush walks are quite easy for the whole family and the views are spectacular.
Whether it’s watching the water flowing down the gorge from the suspension bridge or seeing the various types of wildlife from the walking trails. To top it all off, make sure you take your swimmers and take a dip in one of the pristine swimming holes.

2. Hartley’s Crocodile Farm. 🐊🐊
You can’t travel to North Queensland without seeing some native salt water crocs. We’ve been here a few times now and it never gets old for us or the kids. There are also heaps of other animals to get up-close to like roos, fresh water crocs, koalas, monkeys and many more. Definitely spend the time to experience boat tour which gets you really close to the big crocs.

3. Sunset at the headland.🌝🌴
This is weather dependent but if you have a clear night then grab a cheese plate, some nibbles and your favourite beverages and head down to the headland and witness one of the most picturesque sunsets you will ever see. There is a huge playground and plenty of grass for the kids to have an absolute ball.

4. Thala Beach Nature Reserve🌴🥥
If you’re looking for a place to capture the sights of the tropical north then you don’t need to go too far from the here. There are palms for days and so much space for the kids to run wild and not get into any danger unless they start throwing coconuts at each other which our two oldest kids did on our last trip. We also recommend stoping into the resort itself for a coffee or one of their mouth watering milkshakes that will sure please the kids.

5. Sunday Markets👜👓🌽🥑
If you’re after some delicious local produce or in the market for some handcrafted goodies then lock in a Sunday morning trip to Wharf St markets. You won’t be disappointed.

Bonus tip 🏅🎉
If you’re travelling in May, be sure to time your trip with the Carnival. This is an awesome night out with decorated floats down the main street, unique street performers, loads of carnival rides & then topping it all off with a pretty impressive fireworks display that would rival some new years eve displays in some of the major cities.

We absolutely loved our travels to Port Douglas and will certainly be back to experience it all.
